Colin Brown

Colin has lived in Birchington since 2012 and is retired. He was previously chairman of the Blind Business Association for 6 years, he also managed the Visual Awareness Team for Action fo Blind People and he was the CEO of the charity Blind Independence Greenwich. Colin is a current Birchington Parish Councillor where he is promoting disability issues, health and well-being.

Colin is registered blind and has a guid dog named Ron.

Colin would like to get more people from the community involved to see Birchington become one big family – “we are all here to help one another”.

Jacqui Prebble

Jacqui has lived in Birchington almost 50 years. She is a retired Head Teacher (Chartfield School, Westgate). She has a lifetime of volunteering experience in scouting – she ran the Cub pack and started the Beaver group, 30 years of service in Lions International, becoming council chair for Lions in the British Isles and Ireland.

Ray Holland

Ray has lived in Birchington since the turn of the century. He served in the Royal Air Force and when he left he gained a degree at Greenwich University and became a teacher. Ray worked in three different schools in the Birchington area before ending his career teaching the teaching assistants at Broadstairs College.

On retirement Ray became involved with various groups in Birshington; Twinning, Traders Association, Royal British Legion, Code Club and now DAB. He is also involved with several dementia and welfare support groups in Thanet.

Ray has a diagnosis of dementia.
